High school baseball: La Grande cruises in home doubleheader

LA GRANDE — The La Grande baseball team again had no problems with the other Tigers in the 4A Greater Oregon League, winning both games of a doubleheader on Wednesday, May 1, in La Grande.
La Grande had previously recorded two wins versus Ontario on April 12.
Game one saw La Grande only needing six innings to beat Ontario 13-3. The second game of the day went the full seven innings with La Grande taking a 8-3 victory.
La Grande (11-5 overall, 7-1 4A Greater Oregon League) now faces four consecutive games to decide the league title. Beginning May 7, Pendleton/Nixyaawii arrive in La Grande for two games with the first starting at 2 p.m.
La Grande will repay the favor on May 10 with two games in Pendleton.
The Tigers currently lead the league standings and are 10th in the state 4A rankings. Pendleton/Nixyaawii sit second in the league standings but are eighth in the state rankings.
