LA GRANDE — The La Grande softball team had little trouble with Ontario, downing the others Tigers of the 4A Greater Oregon League in both games of a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 30, in La Grande.

Propelled by home runs from Maddie Seavert and Martin Anderson, La Grande won game one by a score of 9-1. La Grande used eight hits against Ontario while committing no errors in the matchup.

Autumn Strand recorded the victory, pitching the full seven inning game and striking out seven Ontario batters. Strand allowed only four hits while facing the 28 Ontario batters.

Anderson added two additional home runs in game two while Genessa Porras picked up a ball over the fence as La Grande took game two, 12-2. Again, the defense was perfection with no errors versus Ontario.

Austyn Meuser faced 24 Ontario batters in the shortened five inning game, striking out five while allowing six hits.

La Grande (16-1 overall) will switch to nonleague play on May 6 with a home game against 3A McLoughlin (8-9 overall). The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
