High school track and field: State champs also get it done in classroom

IMBLER — As the Imbler boys track and field team returned home from Hayward Field in Eugene as the OSAA Class 1A state champions, members also found report cards proving the Panthers also are a top academic team in the state.
With a team average grade point average of 3.75, the Imbler boys ranked fourth in the state among 1A boys track teams. Mapleton was the top team in the state after compiling a 3.81 average.
The Imbler girls team was even better. The Panthers tied for second in the academic ranks with a 3.85 team average, identical to C.S. Lewis Academy. The top honors went to Sherman with a 3.95 GPA.
For the boys, Powder Valley also ended the season above a 3.0 average with the Badgers combining for a season end 3.37. The Powder Valley girls finished its year even higher with a 3.65 team average in academics.
