Yard sale will benefit Faith Lutheran preschool

LA GRANDE — La Grande’s Faith Lutheran Church is having a yard sale on Saturday, June 1, that will benefit SHINE Preschool. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature household items, plants and much more.

On Sunday, June 2, Faith Lutheran Church’s Divine service begins at 10 a.m. The service will focus on Mark 2:23-28 in which Jesus explains that “the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath” (verses 27-28). Christians will honor the time set aside for worship and receive God’s Word and blessings that are provided in worship. Following the service will be the First Sunday potluck then an elders’ meeting.

Special seating may be reserved for LHS graduation

LA GRANDE — The public is invited to attend the La Grande High School commencement on Saturday, June 1, at 10 a.m. in the LHS gym. Tickets are not required. The doors open at 8:30 a.m. and seating is first come, first served — however, designated seating is available for individuals who are disabled or wheelchair-bound. Want to be a ‘Bible Sleuth’?

LA GRANDE — The La Grande First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will worship at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 2. A Bible study for adults is held at 9 a.m. before the service each week.

There will be a Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday, June 4, at 11 a.m.

On Thursdays, the Homemakers Bible study is at 1:30 p.m. Two Bible study groups meet on Mondays: Mighty Men at 11 a.m. and Bible Sleuths at 4 p.m.

Imbler Fire Department holds budget meeting

IMBLER — The Imbler Rural Fire Department is having a budget meeting on Tuesday, May 28. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be held at the fire station.
