Update: Eastbound I-84 reopened between Pendleton and La Grande

- A semitruck hauling apples has crashed on Interstate 84 near milepost 235 on July 11, 2024. The eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed between Exit 216, 7 miles east of Pendleton, and Exit 265, 4 miles east of La Grande.
LA GRANDE — Eastbound Interstate 84 is now reopen between La Grande and Pendleton after an early morning semitruck crash closed the road on Thursday, July 11.
According to a press release from the Oregon Department of Transportation, both eastbound lanes of I-84 have been reopened as of 10:30 a.m.
The closure impacted the interstate between Exit 216, 7 miles east of Pendleton, and Exit 265, 4 miles east of La Grande.
The crash occurred near milepost 235, according to the release. The truck was carrying apples, according to Trip Check, which spilled onto the road. Hazmat crew responded to the scene to clean up spilled diesel, ODOT said.
The left lane reopened at 9:15 a.m., but the right lane remains closed for another hour to allow cleanup crews to continue working, ODOT said. Drivers were advised to use caution when traveling through the area.
Other details of the wreck were not immediately available.
