A GRANDE — If you have passed by the former Local Harvest Eatery and Pub, 2104 Island Ave., La Grande, you probably noticed a large, new business sign bearing its new name — The Final Cut Pizza & Pub.
Owners Joe and Jamie Cox unveiled the new name with an official sign hanging on Monday, May 8. The couple took over the well-established Local Harvest pizzeria in early 2022. Local Harvest was opened in 2016 by former owners Harvest Rogers and her father, Bruce Rogers. It was Bear Mountain Pizza and Klondike Pizza and Restaurant before that.
“We always knew that at some point we would rebrand the pizzeria,” Joe Cox said. “We were waiting on signage and dialing everything in before we made the name change.”
Name changes can be a complicated thing, he said, “and right now we’re doing business as both, but in the not-too-distant future, we’ll be fading out the Local Harvest name.”
Their new movie-themed business name is “a fresh take on an old favorite,” he said.
There has been a fresh take on the interior design of the pizzeria too. It has been remodeled to resemble the foyer of a movie theater complete with movie posters on the wall.
Other changes the new owners made to the interior included taking out the stage, adding a lottery room, removing a wall, repainting, adding lighting and installing 360-degree TVs mounted above the fireplace — perfect for a sports party event.
They also expanded their arcade room, now including games such as Marvel vs. Capcom, Rampage, Godzilla, the Avengers, a pinball machine and other cabinet games.
There has also been a fresh take on the menu.
In the last year of operation, Cox has noted what customers like, don’t like and what they want to see on the menu.
“So, some items are gone, and some new ones are added,” he said.
The menu choices fall into these categories — appetizers, salad bar, lunch buffet, sandwiches, desserts, build your own pizza and calzones, super slice special and specialty pizzas. There is also a gluten-free pizza base for those who prefer that.
Also, Final Cut Pizza & Pub offers 40 different kinds of beer and eight beers on tap.
“We’ve added some pizzas and another sandwich to the menu,” Cox said. “As always, we have a huge salad bar with 50-plus toppings you can choose from.”
Cox also announced that they just received their new ice cream machine, so “we’re adding soft serve ice cream and root beer floats to our menu now.”
An updated menu in larger print is in the making, including the new food items now offered at Final Cut Pizza & Pub.
The public is invited to the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for Final Cut Pizza & Pub, 2104 Island Ave., La Grande, on Thursday, July 27, at 4 p.m.
