LA GRANDE — A male wolf was trapped on private land and lethally removed in Union County on Saturday. Feb. 4, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s website.

The wolf was trapped by USDA Wildlife Services, which was acting as an agent at the request of a livestock producer who had been issued a lethal removal permit.

The wolf was trapped in the same pasture where wolves had previously killed calves, according to the ODFW.

The lethal removal came about a week before wolves were determined by the ODFW to have killed one livestock animal in the Bazine Creek area of Union County.

Six days after the lethal removal, wolves were determined by the ODFW to have killed two cows and injured one in the High Valley area on private land.
