LA GRANDE — Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics announced the hiring of a new senior director of human resources.

According to a press release, Paul Cheney comes to Union County from Fruitland, Idaho, and has more than a decade of experience in human resources leadership.

Cheney graduated from Colorado State University with a master’s degree in organizational leadership with an emphasis on human resources performance. He has double undergraduate degrees in human resource management from Boise State University and business administration from Utah State University.

Cheney grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and was first introduced to La Grande in his early 20s after taking a job working as a tree thinner in the mountains surrounding La Grande and Enterprise.
