- Kids enjoy a bouncy experience in Geiser-Pollman Park during Miners Jubilee on July 15, 2022. This year's summer festival is July 14-16.
There’s still time to enter a float in the Miners Jubilee parade on Saturday, July 15.
Although she will take entries up to that day, Devon Colton encourages local groups to get their application in early — the entry fee is $25 and the form can be found online at minersjubilee.com (click on the “Vendor and Parade Application” tab at the top of the page). Forms are also available at the Chamber office, 490 Campbell St.
Colton is the executive director of the Baker County Chamber of Commerce, which organizes Jubilee activities.
Floats line up at 9 a.m. on July 15 at Baker Middle School. The parade starts at 11 a.m.
Colton is also looking for volunteers to assist with Miners Jubilee, as well as various Chamber events and visitor services throughout the year. An application for volunteers, called Ambassadors, is available at the chamber office, by emailing Colton at director@visitbaker.com, or call 541-523-5855.
Miners Jubilee
This year, Miners Jubilee runs July 14-16. A main highlight is Geiser-Pollman Park, where vendors open at 9 a.m. all three days. Colton said all vendor spots are full — artists, commercial and food — and she has a waiting list for next year.
She said vendors will be set up both in the park, and in the gravel lot across Campbell Street, so she encourages drivers to be cautious of people crossing the road at the intersection of Campbell and Grove streets.
Other weekend-long events include a book sale at the Baker County Public Library and activities at the Baker Heritage Museum.
The Challenge of Champions tour brings bronc riding to the fairgrounds rodeo arena on Friday, July 14 (7 p.m.; $18 adults, $12 kids) and bull riding on Saturday, July 15 (6 p.m.; $18 adults, $12 kids).
The Baker City Lions Club heats up the griddles early for breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the park. Cost is $10 or $8 for ages 3-10.
The Powder River Music Revue has music scheduled throughout the weekend, starting at 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon on Sunday.
