High school football: Preseason poll features Badgers, Panthers

WILSONVILLE — With the opening weekend of high school football upon us, the state’s coaches have voted their favorites for the Class 1A 8-man league and Powder Valley and Imbler make the list.

The Badgers are just outside the top five in the voting, released by the Oregon School Activities Association on Thursday, Aug. 31. Lost River leads the voting, followed by St. Paul, Adrian, Myrtle Point and Crane with Powder Valley in sixth.
Powder Valley returns this season as the reigning league champions after a 10-1 finish last year. The Badgers finished last season ranked second in the state and graduated only seven players from the championship roster.
Imbler is picked by the coaches in the ninth position, just ahead of Enterprise.

The Panthers walked off the field last season after a 4-4 finish and ranked 16th in the final state poll. Imbler lost only two players to graduation.
The 1A Special District 2 is well represented in the poll with Adrian and Crane joining Powder Valley and Imbler in the top 10.
