Men’s college soccer: Eastern Oregon offense comes out firing in win over Walla Walla

LA GRANDE — The Eastern Oregon men’s soccer team completed a weekend sweep of two games with a 5-0 victory over Walla Walla on Sunday, Sept. 24.
The Mountaineers got goals from five players and had 19 shots in the match, eight on goal.
Emanuel Bartolo opened the scoring in the 31st minute off an assist from Edgar Romero Perez. Kyle Prusia had the other first-half goal off a helper from Abner Hernandez. Yonas Mekonnen scored in the 54th minute off a helper from Carlos Rodriguez followed by Milton Hernandez in the 84th to make it 4-0. Lupe Fernandez had the final tally in the 85th minute.
EOU keeper Kole Anderson had to make just one save in the match.
With their second straight win, the Mountaineers improved to 2-4-2 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play. Walla Walla is winless on the season.
Eastern Oregon will be back in action Sept. 29 against Oregon Tech at 4 p.m. at home.
