Trending
Imbler at Adrian
Time: 6 p.m.
Records: Imbler (4) 5-1 overall, 3-1 1A 8-Man Special District 2; Adrian (7) 4-2 overall, 3-1 1A 8-Man Special District 2
Overview: Imbler faces the team’s biggest test since a four-point loss to Crane on Sept. 15 with a trip to Adrian. Since the loss to the Mustangs, the Panthers have put together three victories, scoring 42 points or more in each of the games and allowing no more than 22 points. Imbler has made its way into the top five in the OSAA standings and a victory over the Antelopes will continue that upward climb.
The Antelopes host their second consecutive district home game this week after downing Elgin, 62-42, last week. Adrian has the ability to make big plays and place points on the board quickly and picked up a score off a defensive interception in the win over the Huskies. Both Imbler and Adrian cannot afford a loss in this game as Crane is still district perfect.
La Grande at Crook County
Time: 7 p.m.
Records: La Grande (27) 2-4 overall, 1-1 4A Special District 6; Crook County (19) 2-4 overall, 1-1 4A Special District 6
Overview: The Tigers hit the road after a much-needed home and district win over Madras last week. Players are beginning to trickle back from an injured list that continued to expand in the first weeks of the season. First-year head coach Dalton Sheets sees his final regular season road game this Friday as the Tigers will be back home for the final two games of the year.
The Cowboys play their final home game of the year against La Grande and are coming off a 14-point loss to Pendleton/Nixyaawii last week. Both teams hold identical 1-1 league records and are tied for third place in the district standings.
Elgin at Union
Time: 7 p.m.
Records: Elgin (9) 3-2 overall, 1-2 1A 8-Man Special District 2; Union (17) 1-4 overall, 0-3 1A 8-Man Special District 3
Overview: The Huskies had a tough road trip last week, falling to Adrian by 20 points. After a terrific start to the season — three consecutive wins — Elgin has now dropped its last two contests and need a victory to break the slump.
Bobcat fans should be prepared for a longer halftime this week as Union celebrates homecoming. A homecoming victory would also break a three-game skid for the Bobcats. The Union defense has been consistent this season but the offense has sputtered, only scoring 172 points in five games.
Crane at Cove
Time: 7 p.m.
Records: Crane (2) 5-0 overall, 3-0 1A 8-Man Special District 2; Cove (10) 3-3 overall, 1-2 1A 8-Man Special District 3
Overview: Crane sits atop the district standings and have yet to see the scoreboard not go their way. Defense is the specialty for the Mustangs as Crane has only given up 76 total points to date. Only St. Paul has allowed fewer points throughout the entire 1A 8-man ranks.
Cove is home for the second straight week, looking to rebound from a loss to Imbler last week. The Panthers remain in the top 10 in the state poll and an upset over the Mustangs at home would greatly boost that ranking.
Enterprise at Powder Valley
Time: 2 p.m.
Records: Enterprise (12) 3-2 overall, 3-1 1A 8-Man Special District 3; Powder Valley (15) 1-5 overall, 1-3 1A 8-Man Special District 2
Overview: This is the lone nonleague game scheduled this week. Enterprise travels to meet the Badgers after a 30-point victory over Sherman/Condon last week.
After a tough start this year, the Badgers found a victory last week, downing Union by four points in a district matchup. This game pits two teams searching for a a good second half to their season on the field.
