High school volleyball: Bobcats bounce back from Echo loss with two wins

UNION — After seeing a nine-match win streak come to an end at the hands of Echo on Thursday, Oct. 12, the Union volleyball squad started a new winning streak on Oct. 14, downing both Griswold and Nixyaawii in Old Oregon League action.

Taking the court against Griswold first, the Bobcats encountered a tough first set, with Union finally taking a 25-23 victory. Set two went much easier, with Union limiting the points to single digits, winning going away 25-6. The match was wrapped up with the Bobcats taking the third set by a 25-18 score.
Union fans sticking around for the day were able to see a second three-set victory by the Bobcats, 25-7, 25-3, 25-6, over Nixyaawii.
No game or individual statistics were made available for the day.

Union (18-9 overall, 9-1 1A Old Oregon League) will take to the practice court for the remainder of the week, preparing for the 1A Old Oregon League tournament on Oct. 20 in the Baker High School gym. There exists a few remaining matches around the league to be played this week so a final bracket has yet to be set.
Union currently stands tied for second in a league led by Powder Valley with a perfect 10-0 league record. Both the Bobcats and Echo holds down a 9-1 league record with Joseph sitting one game behind at 8-2 in the league standings.
