NORTH POWDER — Playing on its home court, the 1A Powder Valley volleyball team swept the 4A Baker Bulldogs, 25-21, 25-4, 25-14, on Friday, Oct. 13, in nonleague action.

The Badgers, currently sitting second in the state 1A rankings, closed out the regular season with a resounding win over the Dawgs for the second time this season. Meeting Baker on Sept. 7, Powder Valley escaped with a close five-set victory.

Even prior to the Baker match, Powder Valley lays claim to the regular season 1A Old Oregon League title with a perfect 10-0 record to go with a 24-4 overall record. Statewide, only the Crane Mustangs, the top-ranked team in the state, possess a better record with a 26-2 showing.

Coach Marji Lind and the Badgers now prepare for a trip to Baker High School on Oct. 21 where Powder Valley will enter the Old Oregon League tournament as the top seed.
