LA GRANDE — Oregon’s not-for-profit workers’ compensation insurance company, SAIF, announced its policyholders in Union County will receive nearly $1.1 million.
SAIF on Thursday, Oct. 12, in a press release announced dividend checks were going out for a total of $135 million to 52,023 employers statewide. Businesses and organizations are receiving 22%-27% of their standard premium back.
“This marks the 14th year in a row SAIF has been able to offer a dividend, and the 26th dividend since 1990,” according to the press release.
SAIF determines whether a policyholder dividend is appropriate based on capital levels, claim trends and the overall economic environment.
“Serving our customers with expertise and heart is at the core of what we do,” said Chip Terhune, president and chief executive officer of SAIF. “We have carefully considered current economic trends and believe it is right that we offer this dividend to our employers.”
