Women’s soccer: Mountaineers rally in second half

LA GRANDE – The Eastern Oregon women’s soccer team scored two second-half goals to rally past Corban University, 2-1, on Saturday.

The Warriors struck first as Emily Olivera found the back of the net for the lone goal of the first half. EOU leveled the match two minutes into the second half when Lindsay Balkenbush took an assist from Sydney Peck and scored. Peck would score the game-winning goal less than eight minutes later off an assist from Brooke Snyder.

Corban outshot the Mountaineers 14-8 in the game but EOU had the 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The victory improved EOU to 7-3-4 overall and 5-3-2 in conference play on a night the team honored its nine seniors Corban fell to 8-5-4 and 5-3-2. Eastern Oregon is back in action Friday, Oct. 27 as it travels to Portland to take on Warner Pacific.
