High school girls wrestling: Union/Cove takes team title in Enterprise

ENTERPRISE — Union/Cove held off Echo for the team title as the girls wrestling season kicked off at the Enterprise Kickoff on Friday, Dec. 1.

The Bobcats wrapped up the tournament with a total of 30 points, three points better than the Cougars. Pine Eagle placed third, with host Enterprise taking fourth. Imbler was fifth.

Emma Burtch picked up first place to lead Union/Cove, downing teammate Makenna Dempsy for the title. Also for the Bobcats, Kari Stockhoff was 3-0 for the day, grabbing first place in her division.

The Union/Cove girls will next hit the mat on Dec. 8 at the Safeway Girls Buckle Classic on the campus of Eastern Oregon University in La Grande.

The Imbler girls take a week off before taking part in the Oregon Trail County Girls Championship on Dec. 13 at Echo High School.
