LA GRANDE — “Their whole team was scoring.”

That comment from La Grande head coach Shawn Brooks summed up the loss to Skyview, Idaho, as the Tigers fell big, 75-42 in nonleague action on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in La Grande.
“Skyview shot a high percentage of 3s and we gave them too many open looks,” Brooks said. “We played great the first quarter and then had too many live balls turnovers which led to them getting easy baskets.”
Skyview led by only three points after the first quarter of play, 15-12, before the Idaho team exploded with a 21-point second quarter. The La Grande offense failed to keep pace, placing only five points on the board to trail 36-17 at halftime.

The Hawks did not let up with the perimeter shooting, adding an additional 23 points in the third quarter. The Tigers did pick up the offense with a 13-point quarter.
“Skyview is a well-coached team with many hard-working players that can shoot and do the little things to win,” said Brooks.
In the loss, Caeden Barrett was the lone Tiger in double digits, putting in 14 points for the night. Landon Hood ended with nine points and Kalvin Iohp added seven points to the La Grande total.
La Grande (0-4 overall) searches for the first win of the season with a trip to Baker on Dec. 9 to take the court against Molalla (1-2 overall). The game is scheduled for an early 11:30 a.m. start.
