High school boys basketball: Badgers drop second straight game

JOHN DAY — A trip to Grant Union resulted in a 30-point loss for North Powder as the 2A Prospectors downed the visiting 1A Badgers, 76-46, on Tuesday, Dec. 19 in John Day.

Grant Union dropped 20 points in both the first and second quarters, leading 40-29 at the half. Powder Valley saw poor shooting in the third quarter only add seven points while the Prospectors again added an additional 20 points to cruise into the final eight minutes with a comfortable 60-36 margin.
The Badgers did see balanced scoring with seven players adding to the team total, led by eight points each from Range Bingham, Hunter Bingham, Brycen Martin and Eduardo Ibarra.
Powder Valley (5-4 overall) returns to the home floor on Dec. 21 with a nonleague game againt Prairie City/Burnt River (3-4 overall) with both teams taking the floor at 7:30 p.m.

These same two teams met Dec. 8 at the Calvin Hiatt Invitational with the Panthers grabbing a 48-34 victory.
