ATHENA — The 1A Imbler boys basketball team continued to defeat 2A opponents, beating Weston-McEwen, 60-53, on Thursday, Dec. 21, on the road in Athena. The victory marked the second time this season the Panthers have downed the TigerScots.

Imbler had a strong first half, putting 34 points on the scoreboard by the half, but only led 34-31. After a sluggish five-point third quarter, the Panthers rebounded in the final eight minutes with 21 points to secure the victory.

“This was a nice win for us against a very talented team,”  Imbler head coach Tony Haddock said. “The team played together, played off each other and found a way to win. We got balanced scoring which we are going to need going forward.”

Seven Panther added to the victory total led by Justin Frost’s 17 points. Henry Treat matched his jersey number with 13 points and Wyatt Burns put in 11 points followed by Jake Bingaman also matching his jersey number with 10 points.

Imbler (8-1 overall) makes a long bus trip to Parma, Idaho, on Dec. 22.
