Marilyn Jean Buoy, 60, of Elgin, died Saturday at her home. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. An obituary will be published later.

Meigan Palomera

Formerly of Elgin

1980-2002

Meigan Lianne Armfield Palomera, 22, of Boise and formerly of Elgin, died May 24 after an automobile accident near Elgin.

The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of the Chimes in Boise. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today.

Mrs. Palomera was born Feb. 4, 1980, to Marty and Mary Armfield, at Nampa, Idaho.

She attended schools in Idaho and Oregon and graduated from Mountain Cove High School at Boise. She planned to attend Boise State University in the fall to become an elementary teacher.

She married Hector Palomera on Dec. 2, 1998. She enjoyed traveling, photography and playing the piano. She had a passion for reading and writing poetry. She went to Philadelphia with her Elgin junior high school class and to Spain and France with a high school class from Boise.

Survivors include her husband and children, Andrew and Kamila, and her parents, all of Boise; her sisters, Marie Moore of Greenville, Texas; Missy Campbell of Caldwell, Idaho; and Marla West, Michelle Prawitz, Marcie Flatt, Mandi Armfield and Melodee Armfield, all of Boise; four foster-brothers, Bill, Rodney, Calvin and Robert Armfield, of the surrounding area, and other relatives.

Her grandparents Bill and Nettie Armfield, a grandfather, Robert Dealy, and a foster brother, Chuck, all died earlier.

Bennetta Foster

Formerly of Enterprise

1916-2002

Bennetta Foster, 85, formerly of Enterprise died May 27 at Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City. A graveside service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Enterprise Cemetery.

Mrs. Foster was born July 12, 1916, to Charles and Stella Hook on a ranch between Wallowa and Lostine. She attended grade school at Evans and high school at Wallowa. She married her first husband and lived at De Lake, Pendleton and La Grande where she worked as a cook for the Forest Service. She also had worked at a myrtlewood factory and a wheat ranch. She later married James B. "Punch" Foster in 1957. He died in 1987.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Enterprise, where she taught Sunday school for 15 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Delphyne King of Enterprise; a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Skelton; six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Sallee; and other relatives. Besides her second husband, a son, Larry Skelton, a son-in-law, Jules King, and two great-grandchildren died earlier.

Martha Locke

Lostine

1912-2002

Martha Ellen Crow Locke, 89, of Lostine, died June 3 at Joseph.

Burial was at the Lostine Cemetery June 7. Bollman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Locke was born July 22, 1912, to Michael and Jennie Crow in Lostine. She graduated from school in Lostine in 1931 and attended Monmouth Normal School to become a substitute teacher. A substitute position at the Zumwalt School lasted six months.

She also worked at the family store in Lostine and later cared for her mother. She married Corda Locke on June 10, 1970, in Winnemucca, Nev. He died in 1980. She was a member of the Lostine Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and bible school, and sang in the choir.

She was also a member of the Lostine Neighborhood Club, the Lostine Garden Club and the Wallowa County Choir. She played a part in the formation of the Presbyterian Conference Center at Cannon Beach, where she enjoyed several summers. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, handwork, sewing, raising dogs, camping and taking family pack trips into the high mountains and lakes.

Her brothers, Melvin, Warner and Victor, died earlier.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of the Lostine Presbyterian Church in care of Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise.

Verda E. Peterson

Formerly of La Grande

1915-2002

Verda E. Feuerhelm Peterson, 87, formerly of La Grande, died June 7 in Salem. She had lived in Woodburn since 1980.

A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Willamette National Cemetery.

Mrs. Peterson was born March 14, 1915, in Ketah, Mont. She married Fred Peterson on Aug. 6, 1946, in Baker City.

She was a food service worker and homemaker. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodges at Union and La Grande.

She is survived by her husband, a son, Donald Peterson, and one grandchild.

Marilyn Buoy

Elgin

1941-2002

Marilyn Jean Buoy, 60, of Elgin, died June 8 at her home. A private family service will be held later.

Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Buoy was born July 15, 1941, to Floyd A. and Edna Hapner Buoy in Eugene. She moved to Elgin with her mother. She enjoyed music, children and animals.

Survivors include her mother of Elgin, a sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Mike Short, a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Carol Buoy and other relatives. Her father died earlier.

Frances Edgar

1927-2002

Frances E. Edgar, 75, of Richland, Wash., died June 11. The funeral will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise. Burial will follow at the Enterprise Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Edgar was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Jefferson City, Mo. She lived in the

Tri-Cities for 42 years and was a member of the Church of Christ in Richland.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Trina and Dee Russel, Sonya and Chuck Salina and Charlene and Daniel Werry, eight grandchildren, a brother, Dwayne Zollman of Union and a sister, Kay Wilson of Eagle Creek. Six brothers, Paul, Wilbur, Melvin, Buster, Murry and Guy Zollman, three sisters, Betty Lington, Mildred McClean and Christina Baird, and a grandson all died earlier.

Robert Neal

1915-2002

Robert Neal, 87, of La Grande died June 10 at his home. At his request there will be no public service. Daniels Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Neal was born March 25, 1915, to John W. and Jessie B. Neal in Buffalo, Wyo. He grew up on a ranch near the Bighorn Mountains and graduated from high school in Buhl, Idaho. He spent most of his working life with Sherwin Williams Co. as manager of the auto paint division in Portland. In 1970 he married Mildred Streets in Portland. The couple moved to La Grande in the early 1980s. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and enjoyed fishing and bowling.

Survivors include his wife of La Grande; stepchildren, Gayle James of Reno and Larry G. Weik of Portland; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and other relatives. Two sons, Douglas and Larry, two brothers and a sister died earlier.
