Forum tonight addresses local opioid abuse
LA GRANDE — A community forum to address opioid abuse in Union County and Northeast Oregon will be held tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the conference room of the Public Transit Hub, 2205 E. Penn Ave., La Grande. All are welcome. The forum is sponsored by the Oregon Washington Health Network (OWhN), Umatilla County Human Services, Blue Mountain Recovery Center, Center for Human Development and Northeast Oregon Network and was funded through a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration. LHS Class of ‘61 reunites Saturday
LA GRANDE — The members of the La Grande High School Class of 1961 are invited to the annual reunion picnic potluck, held this year Aug. 10 at Riverside Park. The potluck begins at noon. Table service and bottled water will be provided. Bring a lawn chair. Classmates are encouraged to wear their class rings and bring old name tags.
State network slowdown impacts services
SALEM — As of Aug. 6, ongoing computer and phone network issues that began late last week were continuing to cause delays at state offices, some phone centers and online services, including the DMV and the Motor Carrier Transportation Division of the Department of Transportation. According to a press release, email and web pages may also experience delays in downloading. At DMV and Motor Carrier, phones and online services are affected as well.
Resolving this issue is the top priority for state information systems officials. The release said there is not an estimate on when the problems will be fixed.
IC Cemetery District meets tomorrow
ISLAND CITY — The Island City Cemetery District will be having its monthly meeting Aug. 8. The meeting begins at 11 a.m. at Island City City Hall.
Christian school is now accepting registration
LA GRANDE — The La Grande Adventist Christian School has registration packets available now for kindergarten through eighth grade. Little Friends Christian Preschool & Childcare is also taking registrations for children age 3 and 4. The first day of preschool is Sept. 4. LG Swim Club sets annual meeting
LA GRANDE — The La Grande Swim Club will hold its annual general meeting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 15 in the Rotary Pavilion at Pioneer Park. Activities will include voting on new board members, a recap of the last year, presentation of awards and games. All swimmers and their families are welcome.
