Max Walker Memorial Scholarships awarded

This year’s scholarships — $1,000 each — were granted to Michael Diggins, Emma Hite and Deidre Schreiber. The committee was impressed by the students’ diverse goals as well as their character evaluation references, career choices and leadership qualities.

Michael Diggins is the son of Bruce and Cyndie Diggins. He graduated from Wallowa High School and will continue his education at Sheridan Community College in Sheridan, Wyoming, where he will major in rangeland management.

Emma Hite is the daughter of James and Jill Hite. A graduate of Joseph Charter School, she will be attending Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, majoring in elementary education.

Deidre Schreiber, the daughter of Debi and Charlie Warnock, graduated from Enterprise High School. She plans to attend Oregon State University in the fall of 2020, where she will major in agricultural education. Deidre is delaying her college plans for one year in order to serve as a state FFA officer (secretary), the ultimate success in the FFA realm at the state level.
