Union County special election has several contested races

UNION COUNTY — Union County has several contested races in the upcoming special district election.

These elections, held every odd-numbered year on the third Tuesday in May, determine board members for local school districts, cemetery districts, health districts and fire districts.

Union County has contested races in six school board elections and one cemetery maintenance district races.

Randy Shaw is looking to serve another term in Zone 3 Position 4 on the La Grande School Board. He faces a challenge from Shauna Hendrickson.

In the Cove School District, Nikoa Rietmann and Cody Singer are vying for Position 1 on the board. Jesse Wright and Dave Johnson are facing off for Position 3. And Derick Reddington and John Garlitz are competing for Position 4.

In the Imbler School District, incumbent Pam Glenn faces off against challenger Robert Breshears for Position 4.

In the North Powder School District, incumbent Danyell Nesser is running against challenger Tyler Hufford for Position 2.

There is one contested cemetery maintenance district races in Union.

In Union, there are three people are on the ballot, but only one race is contested. Julie Baxter is running against Donald George.

All other special election races are uncontested.
