- Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics in La Grande announced on Feb. 12, 2025, it made the list of Top 100 Critical Access Hospital for the eighth time.
LA GRANDE — Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics was recently recognized as one of the top 100 critical access hospitals in the nation.
The annual program from the Chartis Center recognizes top critical access hospitals based on the results of the Hospital Strength Index, according to a press release from GRH’s Director of Communications and Marketing Karrine Brogoitti. Only two hospitals in Oregon earned a place on the 2025 list.
“Being named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital for the eighth time is a tremendous honor,” Grande Ronde Hospital CEO and President Jeremy Davis said.
The index is one of the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessments of rural hospital performance, according to the press release. Hospitals are evaluated on quality of care, patient outcomes, market strength, financial stability and cost efficiency.
“This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team — our providers, nurses, and support staff — who work tirelessly to ensure our community has access to exceptional healthcare close to home. Their hard work, expertise, and compassion are why we continue to earn this distinction, and we are incredibly proud of this achievement. We are planning a well-deserved celebration to recognize their efforts because this award belongs to them,” Davis said.
The Hospital Strength Index is used across the nation by rural hospitals, health systems and state offices to monitor and measure performance across areas that impact hospital operations and finance, according to the release.
“The Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals award program elevates the very best performers and helps create a roadmap for those seeking to improve financial and operational performance while continuing to care for the communities they serve,” Chartis Center Executive Director Michael Topchik said. “This is our 15th year recognizing the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals, and we’re thrilled to be able to celebrate this milestone with this year’s winners.”
