Grand Prix dressage exhibition slated

JOSEPH – National dressage competitor and trainer Marina Parris-Woodhead will perform a Grand Prix dressage exhibition Saturday in Joseph.

Parris-Woodhead’s performance is set to music choreographed for her international competitions. She was long-listed for the 2012 London Olympics and recently awarded the U.S. Dressage Federation Region VI Grand Prix Freestyle

Championship.

A lifelong horsewoman, Parris-Woodhead began her riding career at age 4, progressing through a variety of disciplines, including barrel racing, Western and English pleasure riding, hunter/jumper, and endurance riding before discovering dressage in 1986.

She is the owner and trainer of Hidden Oaks Horses and resides most of the year in Joseph.

“I specialize in creating harmonious partnerships between horse and rider,” said Parris-Woodhead. “It’s more than just my business motto. It’s my joy, my mission, my life.”

The 1 p.m. performance is at Allen Dale’s property on Valley View Road.

Parris-Woodhead will offer private and group lessons in the morning. No previous dressage experience is necessary, and riders of all levels will participate.

Furniture shop opens within lumber company

Emmy Kate’s Custom Furniture and Home Decor will host a grand opening and holiday open house from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The shop is located in the showroom of Cashway Lumber Co., 3205 10th St., in Baker City.

“Get started on your holiday shopping while enjoying some delicious refreshments. It is going to be a great party!” according to the Facebook page created for the shop.

Emmy Kate’s opened Oct. 31 and offers unique handmade home decor, finished and unfinished furniture, re-imagined objects and seasonal items as well as gifts and other merchandise.

Most items are crafted by local artisans. If you don’t see what you want, they can customize it for you.

The proprietor is Chrisanne Hindman, wife of Cashway’s owner, Richard Hindman.

To enter Emmy Kate’s, approach from Cashway parking lot and use the door facing 10th Street or the Cashway entrance.
