Vernon Ray Repplinger, 84, of Enterprise, died Jan. 9. A memorial will be held in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Bollman Funeral Home.

La Grande

1923-2013

Robert Fredrickson, 89, of La Grande, died Jan. 9 at a local care facility with his family by his side.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Loveland Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Monday. His funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Jan. 14 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Gekeler Lane in

La Grande, followed by graveside services at Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Known as Bob, he was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Frank Eugene and Hannah Elise (Hansen) Fredrickson. He was raised in Pocatello where he graduated from high school.

Immediately after graduation, Bob joined the Army Air Corps and served his country in World War II as a belly turret gunner in a B24 bomber. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of sergeant.

Bob enrolled at Idaho State University and received a bachelor of arts degree. On Aug. 11, 1948, he married Joan Wigand and they became the parents of six children.

Bob began his teaching career in Pocatello, where he taught at Irving Junior High School. In 1962 he and his family moved to La Grande, where Bob accepted a

teaching position with the La Grande School District.

He taught art at the

La Grande Middle School and La Grande High School. While in La Grande, he finished his fifth year of higher education. In 1985, he retired after 25 years of service in education.

Bob enjoyed fishing and papier mache sculpting. He built a cedar chest for each of his daughters. He enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels. Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was a faithful home teacher through his entire life. He also served as executive secretary for six consecutive bishops as well as being a member of the bishopric.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hannah; children, Kathleen Andrews, Mark Wigand Fredrickson, Robert Wigand Fredrickson and an infant in 1949; and five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of La Grande; daughters and their husbands, Jody Lynn and Bruce Bullough of Longmont, Colo., Shara Lee and Neal Weatherspoon of Salem and Deanne and Rodney Feik of Savannah, Ga.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Rosalie Elizabeth Niederer

La Grande

1923-2013

Rosalie Elizabeth Niederer, 89, of La Grande, died Jan. 8 in her home at Jody’s Country Care.

Rosalie was born Sept. 29, 1923, to David B. and Winnie E. Lefebvre in Haines. She graduated from La Grande High School and then went to business college in Portland and secured a job with a Portland insurance company.

On Sept. 26, 1944, she married Roy L. Niederer. They lived all their married life in La Grande. Roy preceded her in death in March 2011.

Rosalie worked for Perkins Motor Co., Reynolds Insurance and the La Grande Clinic. For many years

she worked for Dr. Wesley Allen.

Rosalie enjoyed volunteering at the Grande Ronde Hospital as a Pink Lady.

She also enjoyed being with her family and especially loved the countless hours they spent together playing games.

A five-generations photo was taken to commemorate her becoming a great-great-grandmother in July 2012.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and a brother, David E. Lefebvre.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Colette and Richard Tissue of Keizer; daughter, Shari Wagg of Trapper Lake, Alaska; nephew, David M. Lefebvre; and two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
