UNION – The Lady Cats had a “poor” showing on the track at Friday’s Blue Mountain Conference district championships.

It was “Poor” in the 200 meters.

It was “Poor” in the 400 meters.

It was “Poor” in the 4×400 meter relay and even a little in the long jump.

The freshman runner made sure her opponents knew her last name – if not her first — as Bayly won two sprints, anchored the winning relay and was second in the long jump.

Between Poor, sophomore Katriel O’Reilly and the rest of the Lady Cats, Union racked up 163 points to win the team title on their home track.

O’Reilly won both the 1,500 meters and the 3,000 meters easily, then helped the 4×400- meter relay win the district title with a 4:27.93 clocking.

Weston-McEwen was the only other team to break the century mark in scoring with 103.5 points.

Enterprise finished with 99 points for third, while Elgin was fourth (79.5), just ahead of Irrigon (77).

Heppner was sixth with 63 points, followed by Stanfield (seventh, 29 points)and Pilot Rock (eighth, 14 points).

Marta Stangel gave Enterprise an upset win in the 100 meters (13.68) when she edged Union’s Kathryn Hepler (13.69) by one-hundredths of a second.

The top three finishers were just two-hundredths of a second apart, with Madison Carlin of Weston-McEwen taking third (13.70).

Hepler came back to win the 300-meter hurdles and added a leg on the 4×400 meter relay.
