ENTERPRISE – The names have been released of the pilot and the
members of three California families who perished in an airplane crash
in Butte, Mont., Sunday.
The Pilatus PC-12 airplane that crashed is owned by Eagle Cap Leasing Inc. of Enterprise.
Killed in the crash were Ellison “Bud” Summerfield, 65, the pilot;
Dr. Erin Jacobson, 36; Amy ( Feldkamp) Jacobson, 34; Taylor Jacobson,
4; Ava Jacobson, 3; Jude Jacobson, 1; Dr. Michael Pullen, 39; Dr.
Vanessa (Feldkamp) Pullen, 37; Sydney Pullen, 9; Christopher Pullen, 7;
Dr. Brent Ching, 37; Kristen (Motts) Ching, 31; Hailey Ching, 5; and
Caleb Ching, 3.
Irving M. “Bud” Feldkamp III is the president and director of the corporation. He and his wife, Pam, were traveling to Montana by motor vehicle at the time of the crash.
D. Rahn Hostetter of Enterprise is the attorney and registered agent for the corporation.
The shareholders are all residents of California. The president and director owns and operates the Lostine River Ranch about four miles south of Lostine.
Four of the seven shareholders are members of the Feldkamp family.
Two shareholders died in the airplane crash – Dr. Vanessa (Feldkamp) Pullen and Amy (Feldkamp) Jacobson.
The Ching family were family friends of some of the shareholders. All were thought to be travelling to Montana for a ski vacation, Hostetter said.
The plane took off from Brown Field Municipal airport in San Diego on Saturday evening and flew to Redlands, Calif., about 100 miles north, said Rachel Laing, a spokeswoman for the city of San Diego.
It then left Sunday morning for Vacaville, Calif., according to Flight Aware, a web-based service that tracks air traffic. From there it flew to Oroville, Calif., and on to Butte.
Bud Feldkamp is of Redlands, Calif., where his business is headquartered.
FAA records show that he has been a pilot since 1994 and is certified for instrument flight.
Feldkamp is also listed as president of Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California. There was no response Monday to phone messages left at the raceway seeking comment. A number in Redlands in Feldkamp’s name was disconnected.
A Wallowa County friend of the Feldkamps, Steve Krieger, has traveled to Butte to be with the couple, Hostetter said.
Hostetter has been receiving many calls from national news organizations, he said, since his number and address are listed on the registration.
It was a really hard situation, he said, since Feldkamp is his friend.
Eagle Cap Leasing was incorporated in 1992. It is a closely held Oregon Subchapter-S corporation that leases various motor vehicles.
The Pilatus PC-12 was not leased or chartered.
