Rodney G. McMurry
La Grande
Rodney G. McMurry, 51, of La Grande, died July 6 at Grande Ronde Hospital. An obituary will be published at a later time. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory will be handling the arrangements.
Reed Waite
La Grande
Reed Waite, 62, of La Grande, died July 2 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. July 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints La Grande Stake Center. An obituary will be published at a later time. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory will be handling the arrangements.
Eldon and Maxine Lilly
Formerly of La Grande
A graveside service for both Eldon and Maxine Lilly, formerly of La Grande, will be held at 11 a.m. July 8 at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton. A celebration of their lives will immediately follow at the VFW Hall, 1221 SE Court Place, Pendleton.
Eldon died May 21. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Maxine. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.pioneerchapel.com.
Bradford R. Richmond
Cove
1950-2016
Bradford Ryan Richmond, 65, of Cove, died suddenly of undetermined natural cause at his home June 27. A service was held July 5 at the Elgin Baptist Church, and a second service will be held at 2 p.m. July 8 at the Baker Creek Community Church in McMinnville.
Known as Brad, he was born Sept. 28, 1950, in Eugene, the third son of Merton Alvin and Avril Lee (Drinkwater) Richmond. Brad attended Noti Grade School and graduated from Elmira High School, where he competed in football, basketball and track. He spent two years at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, where he played football. Brad continued his education at Lane Community College. He received a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education and Cross-cultural Ministries at Prairie Bible Institute and attended seminary in Portland.
In April 1971, Brad married Patricia Elaine “Patti” Jeans in Eugene. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 2016. Over his lifetime, Brad lived in Noti, Eugene, Unionvale, Dayton and Cove, and in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. He was pastor of the Elgin Baptist Church for the last four years.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children: Israel Shane Richmond of Pendleton, Caleb Leigh Richmond of Yamhill, Priscilla Amber (Richmond) Johnson of Sheridan and Kezia Danielle (Richmond) Lundberg; 11 grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Merton A. Richmond in 2015; mother, Avril L. (Drinkwater) Richmond in 2011; brother, Scott Lane Richmond in 1985; and son, Micah Sterling Richmond in 2008.

Sharlet B. Doud
Wallowa
1923-2016
Sharlet Beatrice Doud, 92, of Wallowa, died June 30 at Daisy’s Adult Foster Home in Milton-Freewater. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. July 9 at Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise. The officiant will be Archie Hook, and a graveside service will follow at the Enterprise Cemetery.
Sharlet was born Nov. 28, 1923, in the community of Paradise to Silas “Ollie” and Minnie Belle (Weaver) Barnes. She attended Deer Creek School in Paradise and lived in several places in Wallowa County. She also lived in Honeydew, California, and Klamath Falls before returning to Wallowa.
On Nov. 17, 1943, Sharlet married Lester Doud. They were divorced in 1968. Sharlet drove a school bus in Wallowa for 32 years. She also worked as a nanny, waitress, newspaper courier and driver for Meals on Wheels for Community Connection.
Sharlet enjoyed spending time with and taking photographs of her family. She also liked growing flowers, hunting, fishing, feeding birds (especially hummingbirds) and listening to country music. Sharlet often visited Paradise, where she grew up.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Minnie Barnes; siblings, Raymond Barnes, Kathleen Parish, Willard Barnes and Marie Schaeffer and her husband, Don; and son-in-law, Ron Bennett.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Willard Doud of La Grande, Janice Bennett of Wallowa, Stanley and Laura Doud of Portland, Twyla Carper of Milton-Freewater, Dean and Donna Doud of Pendleton and Jolayna Lewis of Wallowa; and 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
