La Grande quarterback Andrew Peasley has committed to Utah State to play football, he announced on his Twitter account late Tuesday night.
“Want to start off by thanking my family and everyone who has believed in me. Love my community and all the coaches who have helped me become the man I am today! All the time and hard work I have put in has paid off,” he said in the tweet. “With that being said, I am glad to say I will be continuing my football career at Utah State University. Thank you coach Wells and coach Yost for the opportunity. Pumped to be a part of USU. GO AGGIES!”
The decision brings a conclusion to a collegiate search for Peasley that included several Division I schools, including Boise State.
Peasley, who will be a senior this fall, has been a three-year starter for La Grande, including the last two seasons as the starting quarterback. The two-time Greater Oregon League offensive player of the year has totaled a combined 4,318 passing yards and 45 touchdowns since taking over at quarterback. He has tabulated an additional 931 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns.
LHS has won at least a share of the GOL title the last three seasons, including winning the program’s first outright championship in a decade in 2015, when it finished 7-2 overall. The Tigers were part of a three-way tie for first in the league last season and reached the playoffs despite a 3-5 regular season record. They lost in the first round to eventual state champion North Bend and finished 4-6.
In two seasons with Peasley at quarterback, the Tigers are 11-8.
The Aggies, who are part of the Mountain West Conference, went 3-9 in 2016.
