ENTERPRISE – Wallowa County’s local candidate lineup for the Nov. 2 election has been set.

Paul Castilleja won last May’s primary as the Republican candidate

for county commissioner. Marc Stauffer filed in June as unaffiliated

and will face Castilleja in the general election.

Jean Falbo won unopposed as a Democrat in May’s primary for state

representative. She will face five-term incumbent Greg Smith for the

District 57 seat.

For the city of Enterprise, Steve Lear is running unopposed for mayor.

For the council, Margie Shaw is challenged by Sam Summers for Position 1. Tim Parks is running for Position 2 and Laura Stauffer is running for Position 3. Parks and Stauffer are running unopposed.

Six people are running at-large for three seats on the Joseph City Council. Those candidates are Candi Staigle, Teresa Sajonia, George Ballard, Roxanne Elillo, Denny Day and Michael Moore.

In Lostine, Krag Norton is running unopposed for mayor, and Pam Lathrop has filed for city council Position 1. No one has filed to fill council Position 2.

Wallowa Mayor Ron Gay is running unopposed and Kevin Silveira and Raymond Evans are running for two at-large positions on the city council.

Two local measures will appear on this year’s ballot. The Wallowa Valley Health Care District is proposing $400,000 a year for 10 years for a capital project. The estimated proposed tax rate will be $.657 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

The second measure would create a Wallowa County Fairgrounds Service District that would assess $.19 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

If the service district passes, a service district board will replace the existing fair board by election.

Larry Wightman and Greg Johnson are running for Position 1, Tim Kiesecker is running for Position 2, Nancy Carlsen is running for Position 3, Bud Botts for Position 4 and Velda Bales is running against Vivian Tillman for Position 5.
