ENTERPRISE — Joe Wanner, the chief financial officer at the Wallowa County Health Care District, will be leaving that post to take on a similar job at Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau, Alaska.
Dan Grigg, the new CEO at Wallowa Memorial Hospital, announced the news at the Monday, Oct. 23, meeting of the Wallowa County Health Care District Board.
“It’s with mixed emotions I announced my resignation as CFO at the Wallowa County Health Care District,” Wanner said. “I am excited for the opportunity to further my career in Alaska; however, my family and I will miss this community and what it has meant to us. I wish the new CFO the best of luck and continued health to the people of Wallowa County and look forward to returning as a visitor.”
Wanner joined Wallowa Memorial in 2013 as chief financial officer.
He’s not a newcomer to Bartlett Regional Hospital, though: He worked at Bartlett starting in 2011, first as the controller and then as the CFO. He’s expected to begin his Juneau job on Nov. 15.
Grigg said Matthew Perren, Wallowa Memorial’s controller, will serve as interim CFO beginning Nov. 1. He said the hospital has opened the recruitment process to find Wanner’s successor and that Perren is welcome to apply.
“I just want to recognize and thank Joe for his work here,” Grigg said. “(Retired Wallowa Memorial) CEO Larry Davy told me before I took the job that Joe’s the best CFO he’s ever worked with, so that’s high praise. It’ll be a loss for the organization, and we wish Joe the best in his new endeavor.”
