College track & field: Mountaineers conclude regular season at Linfield Open and Portland Twilight

PORTLAND — The Eastern Oregon University men’s and women’s track teams completed their 2024 outdoor regular season at the Linfield Open in McMinnville and Portland Twilight in Portland.
The Mountaineers brought in three NAIA “A” standard times and three “B” standard times.
Portland Twilight
In Portland, Hunter Nichold led Eastern Oregon with a personal-record time of 3:50.77 in the 1,500 meters to place 12th in the event.
In the women’s 200 meters, Skotlyn Hill placed fourth at 27.22. On the men’s side of the 400 meters, Wyatt Hawkins (52.86) placed sixth and Payton Ennis (52.87) placed seventh. Eastern Oregon took the top five placements on the women’s side of the 400: Taylor Joyce (1st/58.47), Sydney Peck (2nd/59.31), Katie Brown (3rd/59.46), Skotlyn Hill (4th/1:00.18), and Lauryn Mitchell (5th/1:00.39). Karina DeYoung placed eighth at 1:01.02.
In the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, George Showers placed sixth at 9:39.24. Luke Davis came in 10th at 9:54.81.
Linfield Open
In the women’s 100-meter hurdles, Sydney Pekc placed second with a time of 16:04 and Adrienne Washington took fifth at 17:70. In the men’s 110-meter hurdles, TJ Davis won the event with a time of 14.99.
James Connally led the way in the men’s 200 meters, placing fourth at a time of 22.49. In the 400 meters, Osman Osman placed second at 48.28.
Davis was back at it in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event at a time of 54.33. Bryson Spears (56.30) placed third and Judson Mansfield (1:02.71) took sixth. On the women’s side, Lizzy Grandle placed sixth at 1:12.39 and Kendall Bonzani placed eighth at 1:15.17.
In the women’s 800 meters, Macey Reed placed 10th at 2:31.40. Riley Morris set a new personal record in the 5,000 meters and won the event with a time of 18:53.02. Sadie McCoy placed second at 18:55.11, a new personal record. Kaleah Hines took sixth at 19:30.86.
In the field events, Mark Church led the way in discus with a fifth-place finish at 43.70 meters. Colby Anderson placed ninth at 37.85 meters. On the women’s side, Trinity Hill placed eighth at 35.63 meters.
Church placed second in the hammer throw, measuring in at 54.15 meters. On the women’s side, Kenna Woodward won the event at 54.54 meters and Trinity Hill placed third at 48.09 meters.
Tyler Jones won the men’s high jump, leaping 2.00 meters. In women’s javelin, Madison Macmillan placed sixth at 36.08 meters. Lainy Jacobsen placed ninth at 33.10 meters and Lilly McCarger placed 10th at 32.80 meters.
In women’s long jump, Grandle placed fourth at 5.37 meters and Adrienne Washington placed sixth at 5.30 meters. On the men’s side, Israel Miles placed eighth at 6.56 meters. Taylor Joyce led the way in the women’s pole vault, placing second overall at 3.13 meters. Harlee Grant came in sixth at 2.53 meters.
In the relays, Eastern Oregon’s 4×800 meter relay team placed first overall at 9:23.19. The 4×100 team placed third with a time of 48.57.
