Manulife properties in Northeastern Oregon reopen to camping

LA GRANDE — Manulife properties in Northeastern Oregon reopened to overnight camping, Friday, Sept. 30.

According to a press release from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the change applies to Manulife properties in the Shamrock, Whiskey Creek, Noregaard, Little Catherine Creek and Meacham travel management areas and any other Manulife properties enrolled in the access and habitat program in Northeastern Oregon.

Motorized vehicles are allowed only on designated roads outside of travel management areas.

The change, the release said, is due in part to fire danger in the area easing because of recent rain in the region.

Manulife lands in Northeastern Oregon had closed in early August due to extreme fire danger and reopened to only day use on Sept. 15.
