UPDATE: La Grande public works fixes water main break

LA GRANDE — A water main leak that wiped out service to Island Avenue business on Tuesday, July 29, has been fixed.

The La Grande Public Works Department announced via social media that a water main break was discovered in front of McDonald’s, 2308 Island Ave., during the early morning hours.

The main needed to be shut off for repairs, which halted water service to all businesses along Island Avenue from Albany Street to Interstate 84. Service was restored by 12:45 p.m.

Crews are still out working to backfill the excavation and complete site cleanup. Public works anticipates the right-of-way will reopen later today.
