COVE — While Leopard players are enjoying the holiday break, former Cove players have been asked to fill the basketball court as Cove High School hosts the Glory Days Alumni Tournament on Dec. 23.

The tournament is a fundraiser for the Cove Booster Club. Open to teams from the surrounding communities, it provides a chance for former friends and court adversaries to once again hit the hardwood. Team registrations are due Dec. 15.

The tournament kicks off at 10 a.m. with all teams guaranteed two games. Teams are responsible for their own jerseys and are urged to reach out to schools for those “old jerseys.” A minimum of six players per team is required, and the tournament will be limited to six men’s teams and six women’s teams.

The entry fee is $200 per team and can be paid on the day of the tournament. Concessions will also be available throughout the tournament, and fan admission will be by donation.

All the action will not be by the teams. Santa Claus is scheduled to make an appearance for the younger fans.

In addition to team play, a 3-point competition will be held with the winner receiving half of the entry fee pot. Entry fee for the competition is $20.

Money raised by the tournament proceeds will assist the Cove Booster Club’s plan for a new electronic reader board for the school.
