Women’s basketball: EOU improves to 4-0

HONOLULU, Hawaii – The No. 17 Eastern Oregon women’s basketball team emerged victorious in their final game of the Hoops in Hawaii Thanksgiving Classic, securing a decisive 62-45 win over Montana State-Northern. With Saturday’s victory, Eastern Oregon moved to a perfect 4-0 moving into Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

The duo of Bayley Brennan and Brie Holecek emerged as offensive leaders for the Mountaineers, with Brennan notching 14 points and Holecek contributing 13 points. Beverly Slater recorded her third double-double of the season, with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Montana State-Northern was led by Jalen Callender, finishing with nine points, and Ryley Kehr contributed nine points and a team-high seven assists.

Eastern Oregon’s defense limited Montana State-Northern’s scoring opportunities, holding the Lights to just 26.9% shooting from the field. The Mounties also won the battle on the glass by 16.

The Mountaineers will return to action Dec. 1 when they take on the Owl’s of Oregon Tech in the CCC opener.
