High school softball: Six Tigers earn all-state honors

LA GRANDE — After completion of voting by the state’s Class 4A softball coaches, six La Grande softball players head into the summer as all-state honorees.

The collection of Tigers includes two seniors, three juniors and a sophomore.

In their final season on the high school field, senior first baseman Belle Neer picked up honorable mention for work during the season. Fellow senior Genessa Porras was named to the second team as an outfielder.

Junior Austyn Meuser will return to the mound next season for La Grande after picking up honorable mention honors as a pitcher. Her catcher, junior Marti Anderson, was named to the second team and Carlee Strand rounds out the group as a second team utility player.

Sophomore Maddie Seavert was a second-team selection as an infielder for La Grande.

4A Greater Oregon League foe Pendleton swept the top honors for the state, taking Pitcher of the Year, Coach of the Year and sharing Player of the Year.
