Visit ACE to see exhibits before they close, buy raffle tickets

LA GRANDE — Saturday, Sept. 2, is the final day to see two exhibits on display at Art Center East, 1006 Penn Ave., La Grande. A free closing reception for the exhibits — “Now More Than Ever” (works by Nathan Prouty) and “Low Tide” (works by Doug Anderson) — is open to the public on Friday, Sept. 1, from 6-8 p.m. Prouty will give an informal artist talk beginning at 6:30 p.m., and raffle tickets will be on sale to win a piece by Prouty and/or a piece by Anderson. Raffle tickets may be purchased in person and online through Sept. 2.

Play Scrabble on Sundays at Fresh Foods

LA GRANDE — Scrabble Sundays continue at Market Place Fresh Foods, 1912 Fourth St., La Grande. The free activity is open to all, beginning at 1 p.m., offering prizes for top finishers and food and drinks available for purchase from the 4th Street Bistro while you play. The next two Scrabble Sundays are slated for Sept. 3 and Oct. 1.

RSVP for upcoming fall luncheon

ISLAND CITY — The La Grande Women’s Connection Reunion group will have its fall luncheon on Friday, Sept. 8, at the Island City Urban Vine Banquet Room. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m., and the meal is a noon, featuring shepherd’s pie. The cost is $12 each. Bring a first-time guest for a chance to win a free lunch.
