Joe Estes, 85, of Elgin, died Nov. 12 at his home. Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation and Life Celebration Center is in charge of arrangements.

Neddie Mitchell, 66, of Lostine, died Nov. 14 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. A memorial service is planned for a later date. A full obituary will be available later. Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Brayden Lee J. Fowler

Brayden Lee James Fowler, 7 months, son of Kevin Fowler and Alexia Briggs, died in his parents’ arms Oct. 29 at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.
After an immediate downfall of health he died peacefully.
A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Christian Church in Wallowa.
Brayden enjoyed listening to music, watching everything around him, playing with toys, growling and being held close by his family members.
Brayden’s family says his smile was addictive – if he wasn’t smiling he was sleeping.
Brayden is survived by his parents; grandparents, Sunnie Prince and Nick Tanzey, Boyd Briggs, Melisa and Mark Bruno, Stacey Jessen, Theresa Crawford and Mike and Chris Fowler; great-grandparents, Tammy Youren, Kenny Prince, Butch and Sandy Tanzey, Calvin Briggs, Billie Sue Trump, Douglas Thorman Sr. and Jarry and Dixie Jessen; great-great-grandparents, Patricia Smith and Ethel Tanzey; many aunts, uncles, great-aunts and great-uncles; as well as numerous other family members.
Claire ‘Bud’ German

Claire “Bud” German, 80, of Baker City, died Nov. 13 at St. Elizabeth Hospital with family at his side. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Baker City.
He was born March 1, 1930, to Cleo and Lorraine (Puttroff) German in Lamoni, Iowa. He spent his early years on a farm in Iowa and moved to New Plymouth, Idaho, with his family in 1945. He finished his education there and moved back to Iowa.
He was called to service in Korea with the U.S. Army in 1951. When he returned from Korea in 1953 he moved to Baker to live with his sister and family. Bud started working for Baker Sanitary Service and remained there until he retired. He also worked part time for Roy and Owens Tire Shop.
Bud married the love of his life, Myrna Sipp, on Dec. 29, 1955. She died Nov. 18, 2005.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Those who knew him say Bud was well-known and liked – he was a jokester and always had a smile on his face. He spent many years on a bowling team and made many friends there.
He was a former member of the Baker Elks Lodge.
He is survived by a sister, Wanda Jones of Haines; a niece and nephews; brother-in-law, Clayton Sipp of Baker City; and numerous cousins. Bud was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two nephews; and his brother-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the MS Foundation in care of Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation and Life Celebration Center, 1502 Seventh St., La Grande 97850.
Eunice D. Heldt
Elgin
1926-2010
Eunice Darlene Heldt, 83, of Elgin, died Nov. 14 at her residence. Her graveside service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Standard Time Thursday at Sunset Cemetery in Ontario. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Eunice was born Dec. 14, 1926, to Benjamin Levi and Martha Christina (Mikkelson) Morris at Elgin, Neb.
She is survived by a son and daughter, both of California; 21 grandchildren; three brothers, all of Oregon; and one sister of Wyoming.
Charles ‘Chuck’ A. Tarter
Formerly of La Grande
1944-2010
Charles “Chuck” Alexander Tarter, 66, of Madisonville, Ky., and formerly of La Grande, died Nov. 12 at his home. A memorial service was held today at Grapevine Baptist Church with Brother Greg Gaddis officiating. A time of gathering with the family in the church fellowship hall followed.
Chuck was born April 1, 1944, to Vic and Phyllis Hancock Tarter in La Grande.
He was a veteran who served in the U.S. 101st Army Airborne 2nd/506 HQ Company at Fort Campbell, Ky. He was a retired conductor for the CSX Transportation Railroad. He attended Grapevine Baptist Church.
Chuck served as president of the Madisonville Lions Club, Zone 2 Chairman of Lions District 43-K, as well as Zone Chairman of District 43-K. He was named Cub Lion of the Year and Lion of the Year. Chuck was the Guiding Lion for the Madisonville Community College Lions Club.
He served as Exalted Ruler of the BPOE No. 738 and president of Hopkins County Bass Club. He was a volunteer room coordinator at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Retha Duncan Tarter; daughter, Chamala Denny of Pocatello, Idaho; son, Scott and his wife, Hope Tarter, of Newbern, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and numerous
nieces and nephews in Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Nels Victor Tarter.
