ENTERPRISE — The Economic Equity Investment Program is being offered to provide a network of support for businesses from startup to growth, including existing businesses facing a significant challenge, according to a press release.
The Northeast Oregon Economic Development District is a partner in this new program that can provide businesses in Wallowa and Union counties with access to free classes, technical assistance and counseling, along with small grants and matched savings accounts. EEIP funds can be used for business assets, working capital and marketing.
Entrepreneurs who meet any combination of two or more economic equity risk factors are eligible for the program.
Economic risk factors are defined as operating in a rural location, socioeconomic status, experience of discrimination based on race or ethnicity, experience of discrimination due to level of English language proficiency, or experience of discrimination due to citizenship status.
To qualify for the Economic Equity Investment Program, the first step is for the business owner to create an account at Reinventing Rural http://tinyurl.com/reinventingrural and then look for an email with further instructions. Applications open May 1.
